7 Foods Your Skin Loves

Wondering what foods help you keep your skin at it’s best? The old saying ‘You are what you eat’ applies here, too. The good news is, your skin allies are easy to shop for and are super delicious.

Sharing an article I have written for Perl Cosmetics , a British brand of beautiful skincare products with natural ingredients, listing the 7 foods that will keep your skin healthy and glowing.

Strawberries

They are loaded with vitamin C that keeps the skin from drying out and helps prevent pigment clumping, commonly known as ‘age spots’. Vitamin C also helps boost the production of collagen, an important protein that keeps your skin firm and strong.

Walnuts

Packed with Omega 3’s that are shown to reduce the harmful effects of UV radiation and pollution that may lead to wrinkles. Walnuts also contain vitamin E, a powerful antioxidant that fights against cell damage caused by free radicals. Zinc in walnuts is essential for your skin to work as a barrier, fight bacteria and inflammation.

Sweet potato

Higher in fibre and nutrients than a regular potato, it is rich in vitamin C, which helps maintain the elasticity of the skin. Vitamin A prevents wrinkles and beta carotine keeps your skin healthy by acting as a natural sunblock.

Avocado

The oils in avocados work to boost the amount of collagen in your skin and contain sterolin, a phytochemical that helps rejuvenate and moisture skin’s surface. They are also an excellent source of antioxidants like beta carotine and vitamin E.

Brown rice

As a wholegrain, brown rice is way higher in fibre than white rice and feeds the good bacteria in our gut. It is also rich in all the B’s and minerals that help reduce blemishes.

Blueberries

The QUEEN of antioxidants amongst fruit and veggies! Antioxidants help squash free radicals in your body, lessening the deterioration of skin’s vital components like collagen and elastin, leading to fewer wrinkles and more glowing skin.

Green tea

A perfect way to stay hydrated to help eliminate toxins and prevent your skin from drying out. Green tea is rich in polyphenols that lower the amount of sebum your body makes and may aid in treating acne. The flavonoids in green tea help repair DNA and lessen fine lines.
